Raptors @ Bobcats Preview

Posted on November 25, 2009 | No Comments

As you may have noticed, I’ve been a little busy, so my posting fell off some.  That will happen.  I might post 5 or 6 times one week and once the next.  It all depends on how busy I am.

As for the upcoming game, I’ve got good news and bad news.  The bad news is that the Hornets, er, Bobcats, are a good rebounding team, hit an above average number of threes and are 3-0 in games where they score at least 100 points. Those who read my blog regularly know that the Raptors tend to struggle against teams teams that rebound the ball well and hit the three.

Even worse for the Raptors is the fact that they are 0-2 in back to back games so far this season. Does that mean I’m predicting a loss for the Raptors tonight?  Well there are a few things working in their favour…

Well, to put it mildly, Charlotte can’t score. And they’re only mildly better since trading for Stephen Jackson. Sure, they play a slow down game and concentrate on defense, which they play pretty well, but they certainly don’t want to get into running game, because they simply don’t have the firepower for it.

BIGGEST BATTLE

Stephen Jackson is a veteran who’s seen it all. He’s Charlotte’s leading scorer and their team leader. He can score, defend, rebound and pass. He’s just not great at any of it, but he can have nights when he does well. In many ways, Jackson and Turkoglu are similar players, in that they are good at many things, but not great at much.

BIGGEST MISMATCH

There really aren’t any real big mismatches among the starters, but there really isn’t anyone that can guard Belinelli, who has played well recently..

WORST MISMATCH

Gerald Wallace is having a monster rebounding year and likes to fill the stat sheet. DeRozan is going to have his hands full, really no matter if he guards Wallace or Jackson.

BURNING QUESTION

Can the Raptors finally win a back to back game against a team they should beat?

PREDICTION

Raptors certainly won’t run away with this game, at least not the whole game. By the second half, they’ll be tired and will need to keep their energy up to win. Raptors by 5.
